Softball Recap: Charleston Gets the Win

Charleston won the last time they faced St. Anthony and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Trojans walked away with an 8-4 win over the Bulldogs. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

Railyn Cox was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madisyn Watson, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Aubrey Hunter was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Charleston hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.

Charleston's record is now 7-3. As for St. Anthony, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charleston will take on Centennial at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Anthony, they will challenge Glenwood at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
