Cox is 8-2 against Kellam since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Falcons will square off against the Knights at 5:00 p.m. Cox's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Kellam's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Cox is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Virginia's top teams: Ocean Lakes, who was ranked 16th at the time (Cox was ranked fourth). The Falcons narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Dolphins 2-1. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Dolphins recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Kellam fell victim to Tallwood and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. The Knights' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Cox's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Kellam, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

Cox took their win against Kellam when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
