Basketball Recap: University Academy Charter/Kauffman Falls to Schlagle in First Game of Season

University Academy Charter/Kauffman had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They came up short against the Schlagle Stallions on Tuesday, falling 53-29.

Ronnie Bush was nothing short of spectacular for Schlagle: he dropped a double-double on 22 points and 18 rebounds. Bush is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Savion Ross, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Schlagle and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. University Academy Charter/Kauffman will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 27, 2025. As for Schlagle, they will welcome Lincoln College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
