Recap: Valley Vista Monsoon vs. Smoky Hill Buffaloes

The Valley Vista Monsoon struggled with assists on Friday (the Smoky Hill Buffaloes had 1100% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Valley Vista was beaten by Smoky Hill 72-44. Valley Vista has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Valley Vista lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nate Cosio. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points. Maximus Romero was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.

Smoky Hill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kevin Sylla, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kaylan Graham, who scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds.

Valley Vista's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Smoky Hill, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Valley Vista will be playing at home against Regis Jesuit at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Regis Jesuit presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Valley Vista in their respective states (Regis Jesuit is ranked seventh in Colorado, while Valley Vista is ranked 105th in Arizona). As for Smoky Hill, they will head out on the road to face off against Boulder Creek at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Boulder Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
