Basketball Game Preview: Carroll Patriots vs. Archbishop Alter Knights

Carroll hasn't had much luck against Archbishop Alter recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Carroll Patriots will head out to take on the Archbishop Alter Knights at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Carroll can't be too worried about heading out to take on Archbishop Alter: they just beat Dayton Christian at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Carroll enjoyed a cozy 61-47 win over Dayton Christian on Tuesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Patriots' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 521st, while the WARRIORS are ranked 172nd).

Meanwhile, Archbishop Alter waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with a 64-38 win. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 23 points or more this season.

Archbishop Alter pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Carroll, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season.

Carroll was dealt a bruising 73-44 loss at the hands of Archbishop Alter when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Carroll avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
