Basketball Game Preview: Northside L Lions vs. Community Christian Eagles

The Northside L Lions will square off against the Community Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Northside L is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.2 points per game this season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Northside L challenged North Putnam on Thursday. Northside L took a 54-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Putnam.

Northside L's loss came about despite a quality game from JEFFREY WHEELER, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 boards. Those 15 rebounds gave WHEELER a new career-high. Another player making a difference was BEN HEASTON, who posted eight points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Even though they lost, Northside L smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Community Christian waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against Varsity Opponent as they made off with a 73-52 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Community Christian's win came from a few key players Northside L will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Abel Parsley, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Clayton Pitcher, who went 5 of 12 to rack up 14 points and five rebounds.

Community Christian's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points over those games. As for Northside L, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-15.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Northside L has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Community Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.9 rebounds.
