The Advanced Math & Science Academy Eagles will face off against the Blackstone Valley RVT Beavers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Advanced Math & Science Academy is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Last Thursday, Advanced Math & Science Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Montachusett RVT, taking the game 7-4.
Drew Laidley made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Laidley was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.
In other batting news, Cody Wang was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season. Aiden Kuscher was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-5.
Meanwhile, Blackstone Valley RVT got the win against Assabet Valley RVT on Tuesday by a conclusive 10-3. The win continues a trend for the Beavers in their matchups with the Aztecs: they've now won eight in a row.
The team relied heavily on Alex Vosburgh, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
The victory got Blackstone Valley RVT back to even at 2-2. As for Advanced Math & Science Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Advanced Math & Science Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Blackstone Valley RVT struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
