Basketball Recap: De Beque Drops Season-High Score on West Grand

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask De Beque). They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat the West Grand Mustangs 79-43. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Mustangs are ranked 334th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

De Beque was led to victory by Burke Largent and Jace Graham. Largent went 15 for 22 on his way to 36 points and eight assists, while Graham dropped a double-double on 34 points and 19 boards. Graham's afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Manual Soto, who posted five points and five steals.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sanjay Geffers, who had 20 points. Geffers continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Stran Lechman was another key player, putting up ten points.

De Beque has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for West Grand, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.

De Beque will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Caprock Academy at 6:30 p.m. De Beque is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.6 points per game this season. As for West Grand, they will venture away from home to square off against Soroco at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
