Baseball Recap: Greenfield Comes Up Short

Greenfield entered their matchup against North Monterey County on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Greenfield fell just short of North Monterey County by a score of 3-2. The game marked the Bruins' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Nate Trujillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Greenfield saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Ramos, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

This is the second loss in a row for Greenfield and nudges their season record down to 7-2. As for North Monterey County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Greenfield will face off against rival Monte Vista Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Greenfield 2.7, Monte Vista Christian 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, North Monterey County is set to challenge their familiar foe Stevenson at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
