AAA Region I recap October 8, 2013
Dee Clinkscales of Belton-Honea Path ran for the longest rushing play in AAA Region I this season against West-Oak last week. Clinkscales scampered for 64 yards on the play and finished with 127 on the day as his team topped the Warriors.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Daniel beat Wren 66-28. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Lions.
Belton-Honea Path's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dylan Spence threw for 133 and 2 touchdowns and Eric Boggs had 64 yards receiving. On the ground Clinkscales chipped in 127 yards. Ryan Greer helped Belton-Honea Path's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 35 yards.
The Bears' dynamic duo of Spence and Boggs proved to be unstoppable against West-Oak, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Greer helped Belton-Honea Path's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 35 yards.
Wren's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Hurricanes feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Kelly Bryant has thrown for 892 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Nathaniel Ekwere has 17 catches for 294 yards. Bryant also leads the league in rushing with 634 yards.
The top two teams in AAA Region I will face off this week when first place Daniel takes on second place Belton-Honea Path. Last week, Daniel beat the Hurricanes, while Belton-Honea Path bested Josh Pierce's team.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Bears take on Randy Robinson's team. Belton-Honea Path has allowed 34 points this season, while the Lions have given up 71. The Bears allowed 0 points last week as they defeated the Warriors.
Daniel led the league in scoring this week after putting up 66 points on Wren.
