Softball Recap: Clearwater Takes Down Countryside in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Clearwater walked away with it. They never let the Countryside Cougars get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Thursday. Give the Tornadoes' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Madelyn Conner was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Rymsza, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Clearwater kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Clearwater is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Countryside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's still a better percentage than their 4-14 record this season.

As of now, neither Clearwater nor Countryside have any future games scheduled.
