Basketball Game Preview: Owatonna Huskies vs. Mankato West Scarlets

The Owatonna Huskies will face off against the Mankato West Scarlets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Owatonna and six for Mankato West.

Last Tuesday, Owatonna was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 66-65 to Mayo.

Meanwhile, Mankato West scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They took a hard 96-81 fall against Albert Lea. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (78), the Scarlets still had to take the loss.

Mankato West's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Owatonna, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7.

Owatonna strolled past Mankato West in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 80-65. Will Owatonna repeat their success, or does Mankato West have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
