Mt. Pulaski has gone a perfect 5-0 against Springfield Southeast recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Hilltoppers are taking a road trip to face off against the Spartans at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Mt. Pulaski was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Illini Bluffs on Thursday. The Hilltoppers blew past the Tigers 10-1. The victory continues a trend for the Hilltoppers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, Springfield Southeast made easy work of MacArthur on Wednesday and carried off a 12-2 win.

C Murphy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Murphy was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, E Murphy was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Springfield Southeast: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was T Herrington, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Springfield Southeast kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive contests.

Mt. Pulaski's record now sits at 12-3. As for Springfield Southeast, their record is now 5-12.

Mt. Pulaski came out on top in a nail-biter against Springfield Southeast when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hilltoppers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
