Two dominant backs in Christian Maxie and Jamarcea Plater are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Byrd Yellow Jackets will head out to challenge the Captain Shreve Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Byrd has given up an average of 37.4 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Byrd is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Airline on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Yellow Jackets were outmatched by the Vikings and fell 48-17. The defeat continues a trend for the Yellow Jackets in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, Captain Shreve had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Haughton on Thursday as they made off with a 65-44 win.

Byrd's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Captain Shreve, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Byrd couldn't quite get it done against Captain Shreve in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 as they fell 42-34. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Plater, who rushed for 141 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 80 yards and one TD.
