Baseball Recap: Anthem Prep Drops Season-High Score on Salome

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Anthem Prep). They blew past the Salome Frogs 23-5 on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Adam Beeman was a standout: he scored two runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Anthem Prep's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-6 when he doesn't). Jovan Durickovic was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances.

Anthem Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

With the victory, Anthem Prep broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-6. As for Salome, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.

Looking ahead, Anthem Prep will be playing in front of their home fans against Lincoln Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lightning have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Salome, they will head out to face off against Antelope at 4:00 p.m. on the 16th.
