Ian Mckinnon Sets Career High in Rushing Yards
Starting off the list is Southeast Guilford's Ian Mckinnon, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. On Friday Mckinnon made 11 total tackles, good enough to also set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Southeast Guilford is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise.
The victory (which was Southeast Guilford's third in a row) raised their record to 5-3. It'll be Northside v. Southside when their and Northwest Guilford meet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Faizon Brandon Delivers Best Effort of Season
On Friday, Grimsley got the W thanks in part to Faizon Brandon playing the best football he has all season. Brandon rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 136 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. The performance marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in August of 2023. His longest rush was for an incredible 86 yards.
Southwest Guilford had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Brandon it was a similar story. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Brandon saw the Cowboys), he threw for 204 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 passes, and also rushed for 40 yards.
