Baseball Recap: Cheney Triumphs

Cheney won the last time they faced Chaparral and things went their way on Thursday too. The Cardinals walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Roadrunners.

Cameron Eastman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Cheney's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Kaden Ludwig was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Josh Burdick, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Cheney kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.

Cheney's record is now 8-3. As for Chaparral, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cheney beat the Roadrunners by a score of 10-4 later that day.
