A Region 8 recap November 5, 2013

Athens Academy was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fifth to third in A Region 8. Earlier in the week, the Spartans defeated Hebron Christian Academy 28-7.

Prince Avenue Christian added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Pinecrest Academy, 42-6. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Wolverines.

The Lions' Conner Holliday and Jacob Harper have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Holliday has thrown for 1,723 yards this season, while Harper has 41 catches for 668 yards. Stanley Williams from George Walton Academy leads the league in rushing with 757 yards.

The Bulldogs' offense has scored 141 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Prince Avenue Christian has allowed only 93 on the year.

Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Hebron Christian Academy's Harper goes up against Towns County's Harrison Hobbs.

Next week's game between Kevin Shaffer's team and the Indians will feature an aerial matchup as Holliday tests his arm against Hobbs' defensive ability.

An important game coming up in A Region 8 this week will be when Commerce takes on the Paladins. At the moment, the Tigers are in second, while Pinecrest Academy is in fourth.

Athens Christian and George Walton Academy played the closest game in the league this week, with Athens Christian eventually emerging with a 44-42 victory.
