Baseball Game Preview: Lamar Warriors vs. Cossatot River Eagles

The Lamar Warriors will square off against the Cossatot River Eagles at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lamar took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over Clinton. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since March 7th.

Zaxton Aldridge made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Aldridge wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Logan Leeds, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs Leeds has posted since back in March. Peyton Humphrey was another, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cossatot River). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Kirby a 15-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Cossatot River now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Lamar, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.
