While Mayfield's win against South wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Rebels 6-5 on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Connor Mize looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jonah Koret, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Chase Ziance was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Mayfield's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for South, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
