The Telstar Rebels will challenge the Richmond Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Telstar gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Carrabec as they made off with an 18-7 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rebels.
Connor Deprey and Bryson Walker made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Deprey struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Walker tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Deprey has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Deprey went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Walker went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits Deprey has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Telstar got a massive performance out of Brennan Walker, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Walker has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Walker, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, Richmond got themselves on the board against Forest Hills on Saturday, but Forest Hills never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Tigers. The victory was just business as usual for the Bobcats, who after five games remain undefeated this season.
Zander Steele was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Kenny Mecham was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Richmond hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.
Richmond pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Telstar, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Telstar has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Richmond struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Telstar couldn't quite get it done against Richmond in their previous meeting on Tuesday as they fell 6-1. Will the Rebels have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
