Basketball Recap: Conroe Gets the Win

Conroe came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They escaped with a win against the Oak Ridge War Eagles by the margin of a single free throw, 44-43. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the War Eagles back in December of 2024, they had to take a 37-32 defeat.

Taylor Smith was the offensive standout of the match as she almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alisa Sneed, who posted five points in addition to 12 boards and five assists.

When it comes to explaining why Oak Ridge lost, don't look at Synarea Reece. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Reece is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jordan Daigle, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards.

Conroe pushed their record up to 15-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Oak Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 16-16.

Coincidentally, Conroe and Oak Ridge will both be playing Grand Oaks the next time they take the court. Conroe will head out to face Grand Oaks at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Oak Ridge will host them at 6:30 p.m. on January 31st.
