Basketball Recap: Chamblee Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

The Chamblee Bulldogs were able to grind out a solid victory over Drew Charter on Friday, taking the game 59-48. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Drew Charter are ranked 291st) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eston McDow produced another solid effort shooting 58% from the field en route to 18 points and three steals. The last time his field goal percentage was this high was back in January. Another player making a difference was Octavius Gresham, who went 5-for-12 on his way to 12 points.

Chamblee was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They are 6-2 when they've passed the ball that well.

Despite the loss, Drew Charter still got an impressive performance from Vincent Kray, who almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. The contest was Kray's eighth in a row with at least 17 points. DeWon Davenport was another key player, putting up ten points and eight boards.

Chamblee now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Drew Charter, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-4.

Chamblee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 90-65 win against Lakeside on the 16th. As for Drew Charter, they have also already played their next matchup, a 63-29 victory against Cristo Rey Atlanta on the 13th.
