Basketball Game Preview: Hanahan Hawks vs. Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins

The Hanahan Hawks will head out on the road to challenge the Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hanahan has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 28.

Hanahan is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Oceanside Collegiate Academy on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Hanahan was outmatched by Oceanside Collegiate Academy and fell 72-35. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Landsharks are ranked first).

Meanwhile, Orangeburg-Wilkinson lost to Oceanside Collegiate Academy on the road by a 56-42 margin on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Landsharks: they've now lost four in a row.

Hanahan will need to focus on slowing down Jordan McGahee, one of several Orangeburg-Wilkinson players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5 of 8 to rack up 10 points and six rebounds. McGahee is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last five games he's played. Kaleb Jamison was another key player, putting up eight points.

Hanahan's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Orangeburg-Wilkinson, their loss dropped their record down to 17-6.

Hanahan was taken down by Orangeburg-Wilkinson 72-34 in their previous meeting on Saturday.
