Recap: Brenham Cubs vs. Port Neches-Groves Indians
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Brenham Cubs, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a serious blow against Port Neches-Groves on Friday, falling 37-7. While losing is never fun, Brenham can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Port Neches-Groves is ranked 86th).
Jordan Harvey threw for 28 yards on six of 13 attempts. On the ground, Jakoby Dixon rushed for 88 yards on only 11 carries.
Port Neches-Groves was led to victory by Isaiah Nguyen and Shea Adams. Nguyen rushed for 168 yards, while Adams rushed for 39 yards and three touchdowns.
Brenham now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Port Neches-Groves, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Brenham does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Port Neches-Groves will look to defend their home field on Friday against Rouse at 7:00 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: London Morgan and Nguyen.
