Softball Recap: West Sabine's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

It was a good run, but West Sabine unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered since June 25, 2024.

London Weatherspoon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, West Sabine saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kenzy Bragg, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

West Sabine's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 13-6. As for Corrigan-Camden, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Sabine will head out to face off against Groveton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Groveton will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something West Sabine surely won't give up without a fight. As for Corrigan-Camden, they will venture away from home to take on Chester at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Corrigan-Camden's pitchers better be ready for this one: Chester has averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
