Softball Recap: Mayfield Beats Galway for Their Third Straight Victory

Mayfield had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Galway Golden Eagles with a sharp 19-10 victory. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Golden Eagles last Monday, they had to take a 10-0 loss.

Summer Herting was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Kendyl Conyne also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.

Mayfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Mayfield's record is now 5-3. As for Galway, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 11-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mayfield will take on Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Galway, they will challenge Johnstown at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
