It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Newman Catholic had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top against the Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran Lancers by a score of 3-1. Winning may never get old, but the Fighting Cardinals sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.

Newman Catholic had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-13.

Newman Catholic was led to victory by Kate Kerns and Lauren Thiel. Kerns had 16 assists and four digs, while Thiel had nine kills and seven digs. Thiel has been hot recently, having posted five or more kills the last four times she's played.

Newman Catholic was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in three consecutive matchups.
