Baseball Recap: Central Victorious

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Central walked away with it. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over the San Diego Cavers on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spartans also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2023.

Diego Acuna was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He has become a key player for Central: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-15 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Hury Luna, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. They are 7-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Central and bumps their season record up to 11-16. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for San Diego, they dropped their record down to 7-21-1 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Central has already played their next game, an 8-7 loss against Palo Verde Valley on the 21st. San Diego does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
