Basketball Recap: Park Rapids Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Landon Strasburg and Ryan Carroll

Park Rapids lost against Pelican Rapids back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Park Rapids Panthers took a 78-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pelican Rapids Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while the Vikings are ranked 45th).

Despite the loss, Park Rapids had strong showings from Ryan Carroll, who went 7-for-10 on his way to 16 points along with six rebounds and four blocks, and Landon Strasburg, who went 9-for-17 en route to 25 points. What's more, Strasburg also posted a 53% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Thomas Lopez was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Park Rapids and nudges their season record down to 9-12. As for Pelican Rapids, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 19-5 record this season.

Park Rapids has already played their next matchup, an 88-32 win against Menahga on the 20th. As for Pelican Rapids, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 78-72 defeat against Barnesville on the 21st.
