Basketball Recap: Metro Tech Knights vs. McClintock Chargers
Metro Tech was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 91-25 defeat at the hands of the McClintock Chargers. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 329th, while the Chargers are ranked 144th).
Metro Tech lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Yahir Monroy, who posted eight points.
Kyler Frye continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for McClintock, almost dropping a double-double on 29 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Frye a new career-high in steals (four). Joshua Mcmanaway was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points in addition to eight boards and five steals.
Metro Tech's loss dropped their record down to 1-19. As for McClintock, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.
Metro Tech will face off against Carl Hayden Community at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Carl Hayden Community knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Metro Tech likes a good challenge. As for McClintock, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 54-41 win against North on the 21st.
