Softball Recap: Hampton Gets the Win

While Hampton's victory against Beaver wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Talbots had just enough and edged out the Bobcats 7-5. The win continues a trend for the Talbots in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now won four in a row.

Marissa Snyder was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Eden Lawrence was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Cassie Vidic also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Hampton now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Beaver, they moved to 6-2 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Beaver will square off against Western Beaver at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Beavers have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season. Hampton will be paying especially close attention to Beaver's matchup: after Beaver faces off against North Catholic, they'll take on Hampton again at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
