Baseball Recap: Glendora Gets the Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Glendora had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Yucaipa Thunderbirds. This was payback for the Tartans, who suffered a 7-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Brayden Johnson tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Glendora's win was truly a team effort as nine different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Obert, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Kai Zeits was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Glendora kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Yucaipa only managed six hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Glendora and bumps their season record up to 20-10. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Yucaipa, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-11.

As of now, neither Glendora nor the Thunderbirds have any future games scheduled.
