Gadsden is 0-10 against Organ Mountain since May of 2021 but things could change on Monday. Gadsden will welcome Organ Mountain at 7:00 p.m. Gadsden knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Organ Mountain likes a good challenge.
Gadsden made up a huge gap compared to their last game against San Elizario, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Gadsden put the hurt on San Elizario with a sharp 17-1 victory last Wednesday. Considering the Panthers have won four contests by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Alyssa Lujan was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Lujan was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Kayleigh Vasquez was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Brianna Flores, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Organ Mountain, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They walked away with a 9-6 win over Deming on Friday. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Like Gadsden, Organ Mountain also got a great game from a two-way player: Hannah Justus. On the mound, she tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Justus has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Organ Mountain let Siennah Otero and Caillin Reyes run wild. Otero scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Reyes scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Reyes a new career-high. Zaima Delgado was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Organ Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Organ Mountain pushed their record up to 6-3-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Gadsden, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
Gadsden might still be hurting after the 16-3 loss they got from Organ Mountain when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Gadsden avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
