Baseball Recap: Winterset Gets the Win

The Winterset Huskies had just enough and edged out the Newton Cardinals 5-4 on Friday. That's two games straight that the Huskies have won by just one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Winterset and bumps their season record up to 12-10. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Newton, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-20.

Looking ahead, Winterset will challenge North Polk at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Comets' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Huskies' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Newton, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 10-3 loss against Bettendorf on the 28th.
