Baseball Game Preview: Mountain Mission Challengers vs. Grundy Golden Wave

The Mountain Mission Challengers will head out to square off against the Grundy Golden Wave at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Mountain Mission is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They lost 15-5 to Cordia. That's two games in a row now that the Challengers have lost by exactly ten runs.

Mountain Mission saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Mayer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Grundy came tearing into Monday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Panthers.

Grundy pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Mountain Mission, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Mountain Mission might still be hurting after the 12-1 defeat they got from Grundy when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Challengers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
