Basketball Game Preview: Kingwood Mustangs vs. Summer Creek Bulldogs

Kingwood hasn't had much luck against Summer Creek recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Kingwood Mustangs will square off against the Summer Creek Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m.

Kingwood lost 68-45 to King on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 572nd, while the Panthers are ranked 61st).

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Summer Creek over Humble in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Summer Creek blew Humble out of the water with a 71-21 final score. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 22 points or more this season.

Summer Creek pushed their record up to 22-11 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points per game. As for Kingwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-18.

Kingwood took a serious blow against Summer Creek in their previous matchup on January 8th, falling 78-26. Can Kingwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
