Football Game Preview: Archbishop Murphy Wildcats vs. Anacortes Seahawks

The Archbishop Murphy Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Anacortes Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Archbishop Murphy's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Archbishop Murphy's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Marysville-Pilchuck 51-0. Fans of the Wildcats have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Meanwhile, Anacortes didn't have quite enough to beat Squalicum on Friday and fell 24-21. Despite 112 more yards than the Storm, the Seahawks couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Archbishop Murphy will need to focus on slowing down Zeke Hawkins, one of several Anacortes players who made an impact when they last played. He picked up 157 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. With that strong performance, Hawkins is now averaging an impressive 100.2 receiving yards per game. Ryan Harrington was another key player, throwing for 264 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per attempt.

Archbishop Murphy pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 0.7 points on average over those games. As for Anacortes, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Archbishop Murphy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Anacortes when the teams last played back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 34-28 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
