Basketball Recap: Halynn Hughes Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Sandhills/Thedford

Overton posted their closest victory since January 23, 2024 on Thursday. They had just enough and edged the Sandhills/Thedford Knights out 33-30. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2021.

Overton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Halynn Hughes led the charge by putting up three points and 16 boards. Another player making a difference was Daisy Ryan, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 boards.

The win got Overton back to even at 4-4. As for Sandhills/Thedford, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Overton will face off against Amherst at 6:00 p.m. on January 10th. As for Sandhills/Thedford, they will venture away from home to take on South Loup on January 9th.
