Baseball Recap: Reavis Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

Reavis had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Taft on Saturday. The Rams put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 11-2 victory. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by six runs or more this season.

Reavis got a big performance out of Tino Villagomez, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI Villagomez has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Avila, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Reavis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Taft only posted an OBP of .333.

Reavis' win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Taft, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-15 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Reavis will venture away from home to face off against Argo at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Taft, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wheaton Academy at 4:30 p.m. on the 20th.
