Baseball Game Preview: Amador Buffaloes vs. Union Mine Diamondbacks

The Amador Buffaloes will square off against the Union Mine Diamondbacks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Amador is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Bradshaw Christian just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 11-1 to the Pride. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Buffaloes couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Union Mine posted their closest victory since February 18th on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Argonaut 7-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Diamondbacks.

Nate Gregson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Union Mine's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-9 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Garret Seger was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Andrew Schurmann was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Amador's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8-1. As for Union Mine, their win bumped their record up to 5-9.

Amador couldn't quite finish off Union Mine in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Buffaloes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
