            Softball Recap: Lafayette Rams vs. New Kent Trojans        
        
		
        
        
            Lafayette had lost 15 straight at home dating back to last season, but  on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-12 to make it 16. They came up short against  the New Kent Trojans, falling  20-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  21-0  back in March.
As for New Kent,  the  victory made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 8-3. Considering they have won eight games by more than seven  runs this season, Friday's  blowout was nothing new.
For New Kent's part,  Abbie Kegley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only  one  hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those  12  strikeouts gave  Kegley a new career-high. She was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in all five of her plate appearances with five  RBI, two  runs,  and one  double.
 In other batting news, New Kent got a  massive  performance out of  Sydney Eubank, who  got on base  in three of her five plate appearances with three  RBI, one  run,  and one  double. That's the most  RBI  Eubank has posted since back in April of 2024.  Katelynn Moore also deserves some recognition as  she  snagged her first  stolen base of the season.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lafayette will face off against West Point at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. The Rams will need to watch out since the Pointers have now posted at least ten  runs  in their last three contests. As for New Kent, they will welcome Grafton  at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday.
