Recap: Woodstock Academy Centaurs vs. Cheney RVT Beavers
After flying high against the Plainfield Panthers on Friday, the Woodstock Academy Centaurs came back down to earth. Woodstock Academy opened the new year with a less-than-successful 45-36 loss to Cheney RVT. Woodstock Academy lost against Cheney RVT in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 37-34 score last time.
Dam'nic Gittens was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds for Cheney RVT. The match was Gittens' seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mohamed Camara, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Woodstock Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Cheney RVT, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Woodstock Academy will be playing at home against Killingly at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Killingly is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. As for Cheney RVT, they will head out on the road to face off against Hartford Public at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
