Basketball Preview: West Chargers vs. Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds

West and the Thunderbirds are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2017, but not for long. The West Chargers will be playing at home against the Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

West scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They claimed a resounding 81-30 win over Turner at home. That 51 point margin sets a new team best for West this season.

West relied on the efforts of Jalen Foy, who scored 20 points along with four steals and three blocks, and Keimani Paul, who scored 22 points along with seven assists and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Paul has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ja'vian Chambers, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, Shawnee Heights had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 59-41 win over Basehor-Linwood.

West is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Shawnee Heights, they pushed their record up to 10-4-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
