Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Langham Creek couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the New Caney Eagles by a score of 2-0 on Thursday. The Lobos' loss signaled the end of their 17-game winning streak.

Karli Challburg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Langham Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 26-5. As for New Caney, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-13-2 record this season.

While Langham Creek had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
