Basketball Recap: Hammond Golden Bears vs. Wilde Lake Wildecats
The Hammond Golden Bears put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Wilde Lake at home to the tune of 62-12. Hammond has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 21 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Sara Yarnell, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 17 rebounds. She is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Nia Green, who scored 13 points along with eight steals and seven assists.
Hammond's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-0. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.2 points. As for Wilde Lake, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hammond will take on the Gladiators at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Glenelg will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Golden Bears are ranked 21st). As for Wilde Lake, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles on Friday. Centennial has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
