Basketball Recap: Northwestern Warriors vs. Emmanuel Christian Academy Lions

Northwestern was the 61-19 winner over Emmanuel Christian Academy when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Northwestern Warriors fell just short of the Emmanuel Christian Academy Lions by a score of 46-43 on Monday.

Despite the defeat, Northwestern saw an underclassman step up: freshman Lilly Bushey went 7 for 14 en route to 16 points and eight rebounds. Bushey is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Evelyn Errett, who posted three points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Even though they lost, Northwestern smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Emmanuel Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Mya Lawrence, who went 9 of 19 on her way to 20 points. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for Lawrence. Another player making a difference was Arianna Glaze, who put up six points and five boards.

Northwestern's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Emmanuel Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.

Northwestern didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-11 victory against Northeastern on the 29th. As for Emmanuel Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 37-21 defeat against Kenton Ridge on the 29th.
