Baseball Recap: Sylvania Drops Season-High Score on Ider

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sylvania). They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Ider Hornets on Saturday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Rams needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Will Gant made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other batting news, Sylvania got a massive performance out of Griffin Turner, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs Turner has posted since back in February. Brayden Fricks was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Sylvania always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .628. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sylvania moved to 3-21 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Ider, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 25-12.

Sylvania does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ider, they will square off against Pisgah at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
