Baseball Recap: Atlantic Christian Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Atlantic Christian hadn't done well against The Pilgrim Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Pioneers. The victory was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won three contests in a row.

Luke Odell and Ethan Costello made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Odell pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Costello didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Odell scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Costello went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Atlantic Christian is 3-1 when Odell posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, Seth Phillips was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing seven bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Carney, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Atlantic Christian pushed their record up to 4-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for The Pilgrim Academy, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Looking ahead, Atlantic Christian will square off against Medford Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for The Pilgrim Academy, they will take on Calvary Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
