Basketball Recap: Union Grove's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

Union Grove fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Woodland on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Woodland Wolfpack by a score of 83-80. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wolverines came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Wolfpack are ranked 270th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Woodland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Omari Scott, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds gave Scott a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sekou Reid, who posted 20 points and seven boards.

With the defeat, Union Grove broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-9. As for Woodland, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-13.
